Matt Stewart of KCTV 5 News

“I have known Jill Tran for the past six years have been consistently impressed with her knowledge, foresight and passion for all things interior design.  She travels the country and picks the minds of the best designers in the world to integrate new ideas into her projects.  Her vision for fashion, style, color and freshness is unparalleled, and she is well-known in the Kansas City as the area’s top interior designer.  She has an amazing talent for seeing the potential in a plain room and transforming that space into something original and fresh, impressing the client and everyone else who walks through.  I also know Jill to be an amazing person whose word is her bond, who takes her profession very seriously, who works very hard to please the client, and who has extremely high standards for her work.  She has been interviewed as a design expert on the morning news and been featured in many publications around Kansas City.  Without heistation, I would highly recommend working with Tran/Thomas Design for ANY of your interior design needs.”

Award Winning Living Room, “Before” and “After”

Thank you to KC Magazine for our newest Design Excellence Awards!

This living room remodel was one of our winners.  Not only do we love the “After” (it is just what the homeowners were wanting!), but it is such a far cry from the “Before.”

“BEFORE”

After discovering the style that our client wanted the space to have, construction began.  The fireplace was removed to open the living room up to the kitchen for a brighter, happier space.  The fireplace was then relocated to the opposite wall.  A double-sided box was selected and installed so fires could also be enjoyed from the den.  Wow, what a difference!

“AFTER” We added additional lighting, a light mantle, refinished the floor and created a better furniture layout.

“AFTER” Another view to highlight the chandeliers.  We love all of the furnishings we found.  Each chosen for different and specific reasons, they really make the space light and comfy.

Trend Series: Art Deco

Screen shot 2012-03-11 at SundayMar 111.59

Art Deco emerged as a style in the early 20th century. Optimistic, it reflected the sensibilities of the time. Think of women in fringed dresses with bobbed hair, champagne coupes and The Great Gatsby. It was a time filled with change and glamour.

“Before” and “After” A Fairway Remodel

We love this cute and simple remodel we did.  The room started out so blank and standard.  The couple wanted to liven it up, keep it comfy, gain some storage and get the layout of the room to be smooth.

“BEFORE”

We chose to create a cozy and warm space with some interesting art and warm colors.  We have special plans for the main wall, but until the time is right for the homeowners, it is going to be a different color.  Needless to say, they enjoy the space and loved the process so much, the next phase is in the works.  Stay tuned…

Master Suites – Part I

pourshe

In a lot of homes, the master bedrooms are the last spaces to receive any design attention.  But in our eyes, they deserve so much more. When it comes to creating the perfect suite, we think the details matter so much. From the closet to the bed, we design retreats to support the homeowners’ love for each other.
